Checkpoint: Impact

A male golfer in a white cap and light shirt swings a golf club on green turf against a dark background.

In golf, impact is the decisive moment when all the energy of your swing is transferred to the ball. With our AI trainer, you can see where your positioning is lacked. Understand more here.

Impact is the decisive moment when all the energy of your swing is transferred to the ball. If precision at this point is lacking, it can lead to significant differences in distance, direction, and spin, which is why proper positioning is critical. Build a stable and reliable impact feel with AI Trainer.

The AI Trainer has 12 checkpoints at Impact:

Two images illustrating correct (left) and incorrect (right) golf swing posture, highlighting head and spine alignment.

Head lifted

The head is lifted and away from the chest compared to the set up.
Two golfers demonstrating correct (left) and incorrect (right) putting posture with spine and neck alignment guides.

Head dropped

The head is lowered and positioned into the chest compared to the set up.
Golf swing posture comparison: proper head stability (left) versus incorrect head lift and shift (right).

Head away from target

At impact, the head moves in the direction opposite to the target.
Golf instruction diagram comparing correct posture with a stable head (left, marked O) to incorrect posture with the head shifted forward (right, marked X).

Head towards target

The head falls too far towards the target during impact.
Correct (left) and incorrect (right) golf swing postures, illustrating proper balance versus an improper lean to the right.

Excessive slide

The lead leg moves excessively towards the target.
A golf instruction diagram comparing a correct, balanced swing posture (left) with an incorrect, off-balance posture (right).

Hanging back

At impact, the weight remains on the trail side.
Golf swing posture comparison: a golfer demonstrates correct hip shift and weight placement (left, green highlights) versus an incorrect stance (right, red highlights).

Lack of hip slide

The lower body lacks lateral movement.
Comparison of golf swing posture, showing a correct stance with aligned head and body (left) and an incorrect stance with a dropped head and forward weight shift (right).

Head forward

The head is positioned past the lead shoulder.
Golf instruction image comparing correct (left) and incorrect (right) swing posture, focusing on head position and balance.

Head backwards

The head is positioned behind the lead shoulder.
Side-by-side comparison of correct (O) and incorrect (X) golf swing postures, with green arrows for proper rotation and red arrows for faulty movements.

Lack of hip turn

The pelvis lacks the proper rotation at impact.
Two golfers demonstrating correct (straight arm, downward path) and incorrect (bent arm, upward path) golf swing techniques.

Bent lead arm

The lead arm is bending.
Golf swing diagram comparing proper technique with a straight left arm and downward club path, to improper technique with a bent left arm and outward club path.

Scooping

The club head is released too early at impact.

Paying attention to these key areas when making impact with the ball is cruical in order to making the cleanest contact possible. It's important to note that while you can of course use the AI trainer feature with any club, currently the driver and 7-iron have integrated modes available. What this means is that the AI Trainer’s evaluation criteria may vary depending on the selected club type during the session. As we improve and update our AI Trainer, more features will be available to use to help you achieve more satisfying and confident swings. Check in periodically on these pages for any new features available through the AI trainer. We appreciate your continued interest and support!
