Checkpoint: Finish

Rear view of a golfer in a white cap and light shirt swinging a driver on a green course.

The finish is your final movement that reflects the overall flow and balance of your swing. If your finish is unstable, the connection throughout the entire swing can easily break down. A steady finish is essential for consistent shots.

AI Trainer has 7 checkpoints at Finish:

Golf instruction comparing a correct golf backswing posture with two incorrect ones: leaning back and leaning forward.

Unbalanced finish

The body is not balanced at the finish, with improper weight distribution.
Golf swing comparison: left shows stable head and body (correct), right shows head movement and body tilt (incorrect).

Spine towards target

Loss of spine angle at finish, with the upper body and head tilting towards the target and out of posture.
Comparison of a correct golf swing (left) showing stable head, straight spine, and front-foot weight shift, and an incorrect swing (right) with head movement, curved spine, and back-foot weight shift.

Spine away from target

Loss of spine angle at finish, with the upper body and head leaning away from the target, with weight stuck on the trail foot.
Golf swing comparison: a correct backswing (left) with stable head and spine angle versus an incorrect backswing (right) showing head lift and loss of posture.

Spine forwards

Loss of spine angle with tilt towards the ball, causing the trail shoulder to drop excessively.
Golf swing posture comparison: Correct form (left) with a bent back and stable head, incorrect form (right) with a straight back and shifted head.

Spine backwards

Loss of spine angle, with the body rising into an upright finish and no tilt maintained through impact.
Two diagrams illustrating proper (left, green arrows) and improper (right, red arrows) golf swing backswing mechanics, focusing on body rotation and arm position.

Dropped elbows

At the finish position, the lead elbow collapses inward toward the body, causing the lead shoulder to drop.
Two golf swings demonstrating correct backswing with proper arm bend and foot pressure (left), versus incorrect with extended arm and lifted body (right).

Raised elbows

At the finish position, the lead elbow is higher than the lead shoulder, causing the arms to lift.

A balanced finish isn't just for show; it's a sign that you maintained control, rhythm, and proper weight transfer throughout your swing. If you're falling off-balance or finishing awkwardly, chances are your swing path, tempo, or lower-body mechanics were off. It's important to note that while you can of course use the AI trainer feature with any club, currently the driver and 7-iron have integrated modes available. What this means is that the AI Trainer's evaluation criteria may vary depending on the selected club type during the session. As we improve and update our AI Trainer, more features will be available to use to help you achieve more satisfying and confident swings. Check in periodically on these pages for any new features available through the AI trainer. We appreciate your continued interest and support! If you already have our hardware and are interested in using the AI software, for only $99/year you can do so by purchasing through your my.uneekor account here.
